"Watching the shadow of people observing the tent; camera flashes; overhearing conversations observations, giggling, singing...later...taking pictures; trying to figure out the configuration of the 'stars' I was observing through the gallery roof; cursing Bach; I also spent some time reflecting on the recent experience which motivated my accepting the invitation to do the residency.
In brief, in March I found myself unexpectedly in Montreal (when my plane was diverted due to a storm) for one night. I was quite literally in the 'wrong place at the wrong time' (and incommunicado due to my cell phone charger being in my checked baggage) because a dear friend of mine unexpectedly died during a brief illness. I think that experience may be too fresh to do anything with creatively, but having a time-out has certainly been beneficial."
